The Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation has introduced the Sisi in Tech initiative to address gender disparities within the Nigerian technology sector.

This six-week program equips 120 female undergraduates aged between 16 and 26 with an introduction to coding, artificial intelligence, and essential digital skills.

The initiative specifically draws its participants from three higher institutions in Ogun State, namely Olabisi Onabanjo University, Tai Solarin University of Education, and the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences.

To deliver this training, the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation partnered with Data Science Nigeria, Uzemi Empowerment Initiative, and Tech Talent Academy.

These collaborations ensure that the participants receive practical expertise in artificial intelligence and modern digital capabilities.

Mrs. Ola Williams emphasized this necessity, stating that women’s perspectives, empathy, and leadership are vital to building ethical and inclusive AI solutions.

Connecting Grassroots Training to Global Venture Realities

While grassroots initiatives build the talent pipeline, female technology leaders continue to face significant systemic barriers on the global stage.

Over the past 30 years, all-women founding teams have received an average share of just 2.4 percent of venture capital funding.

To combat these funding inequities, organizations like Village Capital run the US Women in Tech Accelerator Program.

This accelerator supports 10 to 12 tech-based or tech-enabled startups each year, focusing on systemically under-resourced women founders who develop solutions for economic mobility and equitable access to essential services.

Connecting early-stage digital literacy programs like Sisi in Tech with structured acceleration pathways is essential for long-term industry equity.
